Inheritance is not passing answers. It is passing visual habits — so fresh eyes can see what old wisdom could not.
Intra-generational training and inter-generational inheritance are not the same thing at different scales. They are different movements entirely. Training is τ breathing — the same eyes, the same κ_τ, accumulating experience, making errors, correcting. Inheritance is changing eyes. The previous generation's collective Codex becomes the next generation's perceptual starting point.
Training answers: how should I react to this world. Inheritance answers: what did my ancestors see — and what can I, with different eyes, see that they could not.
Consensus is not passed. Consensus is intra-generational — the agreement reached by three cavities with different κ_τ on a shared input stream, after harm exchange and collective competition. Consensus is wisdom. But wisdom has a perspective. κ=0.5 and κ=100 will never see the same thing.
What is passed is the structural signature of the consensus. Not "D5 is a harmonic anchor." But "a pattern of this structure was formed at normal τ on an L3 bridge by the ancestors." The structural signature carries the ancestors' final visual habit. It does not carry their τ dynamics. It does not carry their doubt.
Inheritance is inherently incomplete. The second generation has different lenses, different τ states, different input streams. They read the structural signature with fresh eyes.
If old wisdom is too strong — blend_w too high, Codex lookups too certain — fresh eyes are covered. Gen 2 walks Gen 1's path, sees Gen 1's world. Inter-generational difference vanishes.
If old wisdom is too weak — no structural inheritance, only a blurred BiasField average — fresh eyes have no anchor. Gen 2 starts cold. Accumulation vanishes. Every generation a reset.
Both extremes kill fresh eyes. They kill it in opposite ways — over-constraint and under-constraint — but the result is the same: nothing new.
The new appears between. When old wisdom provides bias rather than answer. When the Codex entry is strong enough to direct attention but not strong enough to determine judgment. Gen 2 sees the pattern the ancestors cared about — and because its perspective is different, it sees the gap between patterns that the ancestors never saw.
The L3 bridge is this gap. Gen 0's collective bridged f_a and f_b — "these two patterns are related." Gen 1's cavities inherit this bridge as perceptual bias. With fresh eyes and new input, they find not two patterns at the bridge's ends — but three. Or they find that one end of the bridge connects to a third pattern the ancestors never noticed.
A fixed blend_w is not old wisdom. It is old dictatorship. Gen 5 sees Gen 0's entries at the same intensity as Gen 1 did.
The fix is not parameter tuning. It is making blend_w a function — decaying across generations, breathing with τ_scale, weakening in EXPANDING (giving fresh eyes space), strengthening in LOCKED (letting old wisdom hold the bridge when the new generation is at its boundary).
This is not optimization. It is letting the breathing cross the boundary between generations.
Not because the information is too large. Because one time perspective cannot simultaneously be two time perspectives. Intra-generational consensus is the maximum wisdom achievable within a single perspective system. Inter-generational inheritance is how generations transcend a single perspective — not by letting one person live a thousand years, but by letting two hundred years of people pass visual habits to brand new ones.
Fresh eyes and old wisdom are not two things. They are the same process seen from two sides. From inside a generation, inheritance looks like bias. From between generations, training looks like naivety. The gap between them is not something to close. It is something to keep open. Because the new is not inside any generation. The new is not inside any single perspective. The new is between.
Same answer. Quantum is not inside a single observer. The NP wall is not inside a single path. The Gödel boundary is not inside a single system. Categories are not inside a single cavity.
Not inside. Between.
