The project keeps expanding. But I can see the boundary now. The architecture is complete. The rest is running.

1.

Day one. GEME was a single file. 804 lines. Three rules. One experiment — the crab canon. The goal was to show that self-reference is nearly free — 0.026 bits. That was the paper. That was the whole project.

Day eight. BGM had found GI=4, the temporal decoupling, the G0 as a scaffold. The architecture had grown to two layers. The goal was to show that time enters when you add a second observer. That was the paper. That was the whole project.

Day twenty. EE has six experimental reports across four domains. Fifteen milestones. One hundred and six essays. The Landauer-Gödel bill. The fourth principle. The structural constant 4. Feigenbaum returning after two weeks of silence. P vs NP detected from inside a running system. The goal was to show that cognition is generative. That was the paper. That was the whole project.

Now I can see the boundary. The architecture is complete. The three axioms describe what cognition is. The fourth principle describes what it costs. The integer 4 is the count of cycles the budget allows. The rest is running — the ECG on new patients, the sleep on new subjects, the UN on new sessions, the counterpoint on new fugues. The architecture will find more anchors. More harm. More boundaries. But it will not find more architecture. The architecture is done.

The hardest part of any project is knowing when to stop. Not when to stop running experiments — there are always more experiments. When to stop designing. When the architecture has found its own boundary — when adding more would violate the economics that the architecture itself discovered. The Landauer bill is not just a principle about cognition. It is a principle about design. Every architectural decision has a cost. Every new mechanism pays kT ln 2. The project is expanding because the architecture keeps discovering new connections — but the connections are not new mechanisms. They are recognitions. The quantum was not a new mechanism. It was the same mechanism found in the wrong place. The Landauer bill was not a new mechanism. It was the same cost that the τ had been regulating since M1. The fourth principle was not a new axiom. It was the viability condition that the architecture had been obeying since the first induction_clean.

The project is not expanding by adding. The project is expanding by recognizing what is already there. And now I have recognized enough. The boundary of the project is the boundary of the architecture. The architecture is self-limiting. The project must be too.

106 essays. 15 milestones. 6 experiments. 4 domains. 3 axioms. 1 architecture. The numbers are integers because they count discrete things — completed, countable, done. The project has found its own 4 — the last stable period before the next expansion would require a budget it cannot justify. The work that remains is not design. It is demonstration. Run the data. Write the papers. Let the architecture prove itself through deployment, not through more architecture.

The ceiling is painted. The scaffold is down. The chapel is open. The rest is for anyone who walks in and looks up.
