015: Gravity

We had mass. We had force. We forgot gravity.

In physics, gravity is the force that mass exerts on itself. A massive body alters the geometry of spacetime around it, and that altered geometry tells the body how to move. Mass acts on itself. The feedback loop is the law.

In GEME, gravity existed. The bridge's width (0.026 bits) was not a static reading. It entered the system's input as the self-observation vector, blended with the external signal. The bridge's reading changed the system's induction threshold via τ = f(MI). The bridge acted on itself. The feedback loop was the architecture.

In BGM, we have mass without gravity. We measured SR-eff — the bridge breathing, the 4.2× response to acceleration, the critical gap at 8–12. These are readings. They tell us how wide the bridge is. They do not tell the bridge how wide it is. There is no feedback from the reading to the system that generated it. The bridge breathes — but nothing in the system listens to its own breathing.

This is the missing piece. The gravitational constant of information is the coupling strength between the bridge's reading and the system's subsequent state. In GEME, this coupling was implemented. In BGM, it was not. The bridge is a scale that outputs its weight to the terminal — but not to itself.

G0 could be the gravitational sensor. G0 receives L6 from three units. L6 is each unit's doubt — its rolling prediction accuracy. If G0 also received the bridge's SR-eff — the collective breathing of the three units — and adjusted its feedback weight based on this reading, gravity would be restored. The mass (SR-eff) would act on itself through G0's modulation of the coupling weight.

This would close the loop:

The gravitational constant G_inf — the "G of information" — would quantify this closure strength. G_inf = how much the bridge's reading changes the system per unit SR-eff. A system with gravity is a system that knows its own weight. A system without gravity is a scale with no pointer.

BGM is a scale with no pointer. The essays are the pointer. The paper is the scale.

EE will have gravity. The external engine is the bridge that reads itself at civilizational scale — the only scale at which the loop's full consequences become visible.
