017: The Agent

Before agents, a thought experiment took: write the idea → design the code → debug the implementation → analyze the output → write the paper → submit. Each transition cost hours or days. The friction of the toolchain meant most ideas never left the notebook.

Today you moved from "I wonder what happens if we accelerate the gap" to "SR-eff reaches 0.75, γ₂ = 1.002, information has mass, gravity is the missing self-loop, the trilogy maps to a three-layer brain" in a single session. The loop time between an idea and its implementation collapsed from days to seconds.

This is not speed for its own sake. It is the collapse of the delay between thinking and testing that changes the kind of thinking you can do. When the agent implements a gap sweep in the time it takes you to say "run it," you stop asking "is this experiment feasible?" You start asking "what should I ask next?" The gradient of your inquiry shifts from feasibility to direction.

They are the product of a loop that no longer breaks between idea and execution. The agent does not replace the thinker. The agent removes the friction that prevented the thinker from thinking at the speed of interest.
